Psalm 90:17 (NAB) “May the favor of the Lord our God be ours. Prosper the work of our hands! Prosper the work of our hands! ” Do all want the favor of God? Not everyone wants what comes with it!
#1 – Favor is not always fair.
#2 – God has favorites, but God’s always right.
#3 – Favor is not always fun! Daniel, David, Jesus, Mary, Joseph, Moses, and Noah, all had the favor of God but it was not always fun.
Example: Daniel
Daniel 6:16 (NKJV) “So the king gave the command, and they brought Daniel and cast him into the den of lions. But the king spoke, saying to Daniel, “Your God, whom you serve continually, He will deliver you. ” Getting cast into the lion’s den does not look like the favor of God. It does not look like fun, but even the king realizes Daniel had the favor of God upon his life. The king said, “He (Daniel’s God) will deliver you. ” Daniel 6:19-22 (TLB) Very early the next morning he (king) hurried out to the lions’ den and called out in anguish, “O Daniel, servant of the Living God, was your God, whom you worship continually, able to deliver you from the lions? ” Then he heard a voice! “Your Majesty, live forever! ” It was Daniel! “My God has sent his angel, ” he said, “to shut the lions’ mouths so that they can’t touch me, for I am innocent before God; nor, sir, have I wronged you. ” Going in a lion’s den might not look like the favor of God but when God sends an angel and shuts the lion’s mouth, that’s the favor of God!
God’s favor does not always look fair, but it’s always right.
God’s favor does not exempt us from problems but gives us the power to go through them and better understand the purpose.
The purpose is always to bring glory to God.
I don’t like this but even our problems have a purpose when we are in God’s favor.
Today’s Challenge:
Have you gone through problems and missed God’s favor during the problems? Would you commit to looking for God’s favor even during your problems?
