This is Lot talking to God who had been living in Sodom and Gomorrah. These two cities had become so wicked God was going to destroy them. Yet, in spite of Lot not converting one person, including some of his children, God still showed him favor and mercy. Genesis 19:19-22 (NKJV) “Indeed now, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have increased your mercy which you have shown me by saving my life; but I cannot escape to the mountains, lest some evil overtake me and I die.
]See now, this city is near enough to flee to, and it is a little one; please let me escape there (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.” And he said to him, “See, I have favored you concerning this thing also, in that I will not overthrow this city for which you have spoken.
Hurry, escape there. For I cannot do anything until you arrive there.” Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.’” The Lord showed Lot favor by saving his life. The Lord showed Lot favor again by allowing him to escape to the place he wanted. This shows how loving and merciful our God is. Even though Lot had not been living for the Lord, God still showed him favor and mercy because Lot was a saved person. God’s favor saves our life!
