Genesis 19:18-25 (NKJV) “Then Lot said to them, ‘Please, no, my lords! Indeed now, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have increased your mercy which you have shown me by saving my life; but I cannot escape to the mountains, lest some evil overtake me and I die. See now, this city is near enough to flee to, and it is a little one; please let me escape there (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.’ And he said to him, ‘See, I have favored you concerning this thing also, in that I will not overthrow this city for which you have spoken. Hurry, escape there. For I cannot do anything until you arrive there.’ Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar. The sun had risen upon the earth when Lot entered Zoar. Then the LORD rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, from the LORD out of the heavens. So He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground.”
Lot’s favor saved him and his family from the fire and brimstone of Sodom; yet his wife looked back and was turned to a pillar of salt.
She was also shown the favor of God but she sinned the sin unto death. She kept going back and back to the place God told her to leave even after God’s grace, mercy and favor.
Yet a whole city can be destroyed and the favor of God can spare you and your family. It’s important to have the favor of God and listen to the favor of God.
Today’s Challenge:
Do you feel you have the favor of God? If not, why not? What could you do that might help you feel you’re in the favor of God? Lot was not in the favor of God because of what he did but who he believed in. Abraham had much to do with Lot being in the favor of God. Do you have family or friends that can help you be in the favor of God?
