Most people think the favor of God is just for a few special people, but it’s not. It’s for everyone willing to accept it. God wants to take the ordinary and do the extraordinary. That’s what is so exciting about the favor of God. Luke 4:19 (NIV) “to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Jesus is proclaiming the year of the Lord’s favor. Luke 4:18-21 (NIV) “The Spirit of the Lord is on me because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor. Then, he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down.
The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him, and he began by saying to them, ‘Today, this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.’” Jesus said, “I am the fulfillment of this Old Testament scripture.” Jesus was saying, “I have now ushered in a new era, an opportunity for people to accept the gospel of Jesus or the good news.” You see, the moment you invited Jesus into your heart as Lord and Savior, you encounter the favor of God. It is because of the favor of God we have salvation, not what we do.
Today’s Challenge:
The most important question in the world is, Do you have the favor of God in your life because you have invited Jesus in your life as savior? Yes or no? If not, would you like to do that right now? Say something like this, “Jesus, I know I’m a sinner and would like you to forgive me of my sins. I believe you died on the cross and shed your blood for my sins and rose on the third day, come into my heart and be the Lord of my life.” Romans 10:9-13 (NKJV) “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame. For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
