Should I Pray for My Dog?

by | Blog

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:6-7 NIV

Matthew 10:29-31 (TLB)
“Not one sparrow (What do they cost? Two for a penny?) can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it.
And the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t worry! You are more valuable to him than many sparrows.”

When we remember the way He cares for the sparrows, we can conclude He cares about our pets, too. We can pray for our dogs and trust that God cares for them.

Does the Bible Say Anything About Our Pets?

Proverbs 12:10 says, “The righteous care for the needs of their animals(pets), but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.” (NIV)

Dogs can provide companionship through lonely seasons of life, whether we are living alone, battling sickness or heartbreak, depression, or loneliness. In those moments, a dog can be a reminder of our good God’s promise, we will never be alone.

“Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” (John 1:3 NIV)

Is It Okay to Pray For My Dog?

“Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” Luke 12:7 NIV

It’s okay to pray for our dogs. If there is a care or concern on our heart the Bible is clear, God cares about us, those cares, and concerns. Our dogs bless our lives, and so it’s a good thing to pray gratefully to God for the joy of being a pet owner. God absolutely cares about the little things in our lives since He’s numbered the hairs on our head.
