Choices we make.
We make choices every day.
Choices start before we open our eyes. It’s a choice to open our eyes.
Life is made of choices.
The kind of life we live is due to the choices we make.
The clothes we wear are due to a choice.
The food we eat is due to a choice.
The job we have is due to a choice.
You are where you are today because of the previous choices you have made.
Today’s choices make tomorrow’s reality.
There are choices in our control and others that are out of our control.
The choice to make a good choice connects us to discipline and discretion.
Discipline and discretion are keys to the kind of life we live – good, great, or not so great
David suffered from both good choices and bad. (1 Samuel 17:38-39, NKJV)
The good choices he made:
- David courageously decides to fight a guy named Goliath.
- Goliath was a Philistine warrior and David was a teenage boy.
- David enters into battle as a sole deliverer for the army of Israel.
- If David wins the hand to hand combat, the nation of Israel wins the war.
- David’s choice of weapons is very unconventional, and the leaders of Israel try to convince David to use other weapons.
David does not choose the armor and the hardware that King Saul suggests.
David tested the armor and realized it was not what he needed.
It is imperative for us to learn to use what works for us.
David put off all the things that people were trying to put on him.
King Saul dresses David for battle.
Has anyone tried to dress you for life?
We must resist what others attempt to put on us.
God has labels for us: (John 15:15, NKJV; II Corinthians 6:18, NKJV; II Corinthians 5:21, NKJV; Ephesians 5:21 NKJV; Ephesians 2:10, NKJV; Romans 8:17, NKJV)
Friends.
Sons and Daughters.
The righteousness of God.
His workmanship.
Heirs of God.
Let’s learn those God-labels and learn the benefits.
