There are 2 Sanctifications:
-
- Positional sanctification – happens at salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ.
- Progressive sanctification – happens as we become more and more like Jesus as the Holy Spirit prompts us.
Being saved and serving by the prompting of the Holy Spirit will result in God doing wonders. (Joshua 3:5, NKJV)
Our personal sanctification is because of our Lord Jesus. (1 Corinthians 6:11, NKJV; Hebrews 13:12, NKJV)
God wants us to be both positionally and progressively sanctified where we can enjoy the peace of God body, soul and spirit.
Steps to remember about sanctification:
Repentance, not resolve. (James 5:16, NKJV; 1 John 1:9-10, NKJV; James 5:16, NKJV; 2 Chronicles 20:17, NKJV)
Heart transformation, not behavior modification. (Romans 12:2, NKJV)
Progression, not perfection. (Philippians 3:13-14, NKJV)
Does God forgive sins you continue to repeat and repent? (Jeremiah 33:8, NIV; Jeremiah 33:11, NCV; Hebrews 8:12, NKJV; Isaiah 43:25, ESV)
Forgiveness:
- The metaphor of dent cancellation clearly defines the natures of forgiveness, when you forgive someone you cancel a debt.
What does it mean to truly repent of your sins?
- To truly repent means to change your mind about a particular thing.
Does God forgive sins you continue to repeat?
- Be reminded of the nature of your relationship. What matters more than anything is your union with Christ.
- A weak faith can lay hold of a strong Christ. He is merciful and abounding in steadfast love. (Lamentations 3:21-23, NKJV; Matthew 17:20, NKJV)
