Every leader needs and wants loyalty.
You can’t get loyalty and longevity mixed up with productivity.
Business does not equal productivity.
You can’t get trust mixed up with truth.
You want to trust them or you really don’t need them.
You can’t allow the truth about their not being able to do their job direct your decision.
Be careful not to make emotional decisions.
When we don’t make decisions based on productivity and truth, we will become comfortable living in the uncomfortable.
When we become comfortable living in the uncomfortable, we will soon try to defend and define it instead of dealing with it.
We need to treasure our volunteers, but we also have to be truthful.
The truth about leading up and leading down.
Those under you should be leading up.
Department leaders will still have to lead down.
The goal of the department and staff is to train and develop a few under you that are also leading up.
When those under you first start trying to lead up, you may take it wrong.
If you don’t start letting them lead up, you can only grow so much.
