Prioritize your health.
If you’re not healthy, those you lead won’t be healthy.
Unhealthy people hurt people.
Don’t just get healthy, stay healthy.
If you’re not growing, you can’t grow people.
You are either the lid, or lid lifter.
Growing people earn, learn (teachable), and burn.
3 Kinds of people:
-
- Wise people: learn and change in response to truth.
- Foolish people: resist change and manipulate truth to avoid adjusting their lives.
- Evil people: want to harm you and do things to intentionally do damage to you.
Identifying toxic people:
Repeated mistakes, self-absorption, lying, manipulation, unwillingness, to accept feedback, assign blame instead of accept blame, have a critical spirit and often gossip, ignore boundaries, passive-aggressive behavior.
Toxic individuals can significantly harm organizational culture and mission.
Managing foolish people:
Limiting exposure: restrict time spent with foolish individuals to conserve energy and minimize their impact.
Strategic Involvement: continue to offer opportunities for growth but within clear boundaries to protect the organization’s wellbeing.
Dealing with evil people:
Necessity of removal: remove or distance oneself from individuals who pose a threat to personal or organizational integrity.
Protective measures: establish and enforce clear boundaries to safeguard against harmful intentions.
Cultivation a wise leadership team:
Prioritizing wisdom: populate senior leadership positions and individuals who demonstrate wisdom, humility, and teachability.
Building a healthy culture: A strong, positive culture naturally repels toxic behavior and individuals.
