Think on what’s true. (Philippians 4:8-9, NIV)
True; (John 17:17; John 8:32, NIV) Freedom from sin and deception. Free to live a full life.
Noble; Choosing thoughts and actions that uplift rather than degrade. Our acts will follow our thoughts.
Right; Basing our decisions on God’s truth. What pleases God rather than simply what is convenient or popular.
Pure; A pure heart has to come from above, and it’s God’s wisdom not ours. (James 3:17, CEV; Jeremiah 17:9-10, NKJV; Psalm 139:23-24, NIV)
Lovely; Acts of kindness or the beauty of God’s creation. Thinking on these things helps cultivate a heart of gratitude and joy. (Colossians 3:12, NCV)
Admirable; To inspire others and bring honor to God whether it’s by someone’s generosity or courage.
Praiseworthy; Things that are spiritually pleasing, not just pleasing to man.
The importance of what we think on: (Proverbs 23:7, NKJV)
What we think on has greatly determined who we are going to be.
Our lives are moving in the direction of our strongest thoughts.
Are you excited about the direction your thoughts are taking you?
Most of the time we are fighting the wrong way or wrong person. (2 Corinthians 10:3-6, NIV)
We often use the wrong weapons or no weapons at all.
The right weapons will demolish and give us victory over the very areas we have strongholds.
What are we to do?
Beware of the battle.
You have to know and believe that if you’re saved, you have the power.
Know what a stronghold is.
Take those strongholds captive.
Use God’s Word, the sword, and power to take them captive. (Deuteronomy 30:19, NIV)
