Homosexuality
Response: 1 Peter 2:17
“Thank you for bringing up this important and sensitive topic. As a Christian, Journey Church believes that every person is created in the image of God and is deserving of love, dignity, and respect. The Bible teaches marriage as a union between a man and a woman, which Journey Church believes. However, Journey Church also recognizes the importance of treating everyone with kindness and compassion, regardless of their sexual orientation.
Journey Church strives to love others as Christ loves us, and that means being a friend, listening without judgment, and offering support.
Ultimately, Journey Churches goal is to reflect Christ’s love in all our interactions, to be a source of grace and understanding, and to uphold the dignity of every individual.” While holding to our biblical beliefs.
Politics
Response:
“Politics is a complex and often divisive subject, and it’s essential to approach it with both wisdom and grace. At Journey Church we try to ground our political views in Biblical principles such as justice, mercy, and humility (Micah 6:8).
Journey Church believes it is important to engage in political discussions with respect and a willingness to listen to different perspectives. We may not always agree, but we can have constructive conversations that reflect the love and truth of Christ. Jesus taught us to love our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 12:31), which includes those with whom we have political differences.
In all political matters, our aim is to be a peacemaker (Matthew 5:9) and to seek the welfare of our community, always keeping in mind that our ultimate hope and allegiance are in God’s kingdom.”
Racism
Response:
Journey Church believes that racism is a profound injustice and a sin that grieves the heart of God. As Christians, Journey Church is called to stand against racism in all its forms and to advocate for justice and equality. The Bible teaches that all people are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27) and that there is neither Jew nor Gentile, slave nor free, male nor female, for we are all one in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:28).
In responding to racism, Journey Church strives to follow Jesus’ example of love, justice, and humility, working to create a community where everyone is valued and treated with dignity. This includes speaking out against injustice, supporting policies that promote equality, and building relationships that bridge racial divides.”
