4 Questions to Ask Before Making a Decision

by | Leadership

We make decisions everyday, big or small, and sometimes we may not always make the right decision. However, there a simple truths from God’s Word that show us exactly how to make the right decisions. Here are 4 questions to ask yourself before making any decision:

What is the wise thing to do?

It’s not “what do I want to do?”, it’s not “can I do it?”,  it’s “is this the wisest thing to do?”. We can see if it is the wisest thing to do by looking in light of our past. Our past tells our future apart from transformation. We don’t get better by trying, we get better by training, and that brings transformation. Right Information (God’s Word) + Consistent Application = Transformation.

‘And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.’ Romans 12:2

‘Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. ‘ 2 Peter 1:2-4

What does my current circumstance tell me I should do or not do?

‘There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: ‘ Ecclesiastes 3:1

Is this going to bring Glory to God?

What does the future look like if I make this decision?

Will it bring me closer to my family? Will this help me be where God wants me to be in 5-10 years? Will this further the Kingdom of God? Without a Godly vision, our vision will not last.

‘“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.’ Matthew 6:31-34

‘Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. ‘ Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)

‘When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful.’ Proverbs 29:18 (NLT)
