How to Pray for the Lost

by | Christian Resources

Pray that God will draw them close to Christ.

John 6:44 “No one can come to Me, unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.”

Pray that they will hear a clear presentation of the Gospel.

(Romans 10:14-15) “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

Pray that God will soften their hearts to listen to the Gospel.

1 Corinthians 2:14The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.”

2 Corinthians 3:14-15But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away. 15 Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts.”

Pray that God would prevent Satan from blinding them from the Gospel.

2 Corinthians 4:3-5 “And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.”

Pray that false teachers will not deceive them with spiritual lies.

Romans 16:18For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.”

Pray that God would convict them of sin.

Jude 1:15 (NLT) 15 ……. He will convict the ungodly of all the evil things they have done in rebellion and of all the insults that godless sinners have spoken against him.”

Pray that God’s blessing will lead them to repentance.

Romans 2:4 (NKJV) 4 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?

Pray that God would send laborers.

Matthew 9:38 (NKJV) 38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

Pray that God would protect them from the enemy.

John 17:15 (NKJV) 15 I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.

Pray that God would not give them peace until they find Christ.

John 14:27 (NKJV) 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Pray that God would bind Satan so that our love one could be set free.

Mark 3:27 (NKJV) 27 No one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. And then he will plunder his house.

Pray that God soften their hearts and open their eyes,

Matthew 13:15 (NKJV) 15 For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.’

Pray that God would put a “Hedge of Thorns” around them.

Hosea 2:5-7 (NKJV)
5 For their mother has played the harlot; She who conceived them has behaved shamefully. For she said, ‘I will go after my lovers, Who give me my bread and my water, My wool and my linen, My oil and my drink.’ 6 “Therefore, behold, I will hedge up your way with thorns, And wall her(name) in, So that she (name)cannot find her(there) paths. 7 She (name) will chase her (there)lovers, But not overtake them; Yes, she (name)will seek them, but not find them. Then she(name) will say, ‘I will go and return to my first husband(God who needs to be our first love), For then it was better for me than now.’

“Heavenly Father, I ask You to rebuke and bind Satin in the name and through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. “I ask You to build a ‘hedge of thorns’ around __________, so that anyone with wrong influence will lose interest in him (or her) and leave.
