“It is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9, NIV
Your deepest need is salvation from sin because sin is what separates you from God and eternal life.
When Jesus hung from the cross, two criminals were also being crucified. One turned to Jesus and said, “Remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Luke 23:42, NIV
Jesus was famous for doing miracles, but the criminal didn’t ask Jesus to stop his pain or save him from death. Instead, he asked Jesus to help him with his biggest problem – separation from God. Jesus comforted the new believer, and told him that he will be with him in paradise.
How can you be sure that you’re saved? How do you know you’re going to heaven when you die?
Your salvation is secure because it’s not based on what you’ve done. Jesus did all the work. Salvation is a gift; it’s not something you can earn because you aren’t perfect.
Your salvation is secure because it’s not based on how you feel. Feelings come and go; they do not determine your citizenship in God’s Kingdom.
Your salvation is secure because it’s based on Jesus. We receive this gift through faith. If you believe, you belong! You don’t have to wonder if you are saved, you can know with absolute certainty.
