“God opposes everyone who is proud, but he is kind to everyone who is humble. Surrender to God!”James 4:6-7, CEV
Does this sound familiar? You make plans without consulting God. You think you can do a better job without involving the Creator of the universe. You forget his promise to show you the right path. Then, when your plans don’t come together, you get angry.
The Bible calls this pride, and God opposes pride.
You really don’t want to be opposed by God; there’s no way you’ll win that battle. In fact, when you’re filled with pride, you’re operating as an enemy of God. That’s how serious it is.
The best thing you can do is surrender. Tell God you give up control. Stop trying to get God to submit to your plan, and tell Him you are surrendering to His plan.
Romans 6:13 says, “Give yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life, and surrender your whole being to him to be used for righteous purposes” GNT
A person surrendered to God prays, “God, I’m going with your plans for my life, not my own. I’ve been making my own plans, chasing dreams that have nothing to do with you. I’m making decisions based on ambition, pleasure, or convenience. That’s all going to stop. From now on, I will intentionally choose your plan for my life. I will seek and pursue the purpose for which you created me. I will rely upon your Word to guide me, and I will be sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s direction. Amen.”
