We need the right people within the walls. We need the right people within the church protecting the unity, direction, and discipleship. When we forget where we came from and how we got to where we are, the walls and gate get broken down and the enemy comes in and destroys whose left.
We also need those who go out and bring new people in within the walls, so that we can teach them unity, direction, and discipleship. When a church, family, etc. falls it’s usually from the inside out or those who live within bring the wrong people in. When our spiritual walls are broken down, the enemy comes in and tries to destroy those in the house. God’s looking for men, women, boys, and girls that will stand in the gap. Gaps are holes in the spiritual and supernatural protection that surrounds God’s people for their protection and provision. Moses is a picture of what it means to stand in the gap—we need people inside the church protecting the unity, people on the outside bringing new people in, and we all need to be standing in the gap.
‘that Hanani one of my brethren came with men from Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews who had escaped, who had survived the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem. And they said to me, “The survivors who are left from the captivity in the province are there in great distress and reproach. The wall of Jerusalem is also broken down, and its gates are burned with fire.”’ Nehemiah 1:2-3
‘So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one. ‘ Ezekiel 22:30
‘And the Lord said to Moses, “Go, get down! For your people whom you brought out of the land of Egypt have corrupted themselves. They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them. They have made themselves a molded calf, and worshiped it and sacrificed to it, and said, ‘This is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!’ ” And the Lord said to Moses, “I have seen this people, and indeed it is a stiff-necked people! Now therefore, let Me alone, that My wrath may burn hot against them and I may consume them. And I will make of you a great nation.” Then Moses pleaded with the Lord his God, and said: “ Lord , why does Your wrath burn hot against Your people whom You have brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand? ‘ Exodus 32:7-11
‘So the Lord relented from the harm which He said He would do to His people.’ Exodus 32:14
