Week 4: How to Make Godly Decisions

Colossians 3:17 NKJV “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”

How to Have God’s Will in the Matter:
1. God’s Word – Know the Word; Act on the Word.
2. God’s Principles – God is more concerned with who you are becoming (Character) than where you are. Colossians 3:17, NKJV
3. God’s Authorities – The main reason people don’t go to their God given authorities is because of PRIDE.
4. God’s Sovereignty – We can’t control the sovereignty of God.

Making Godly Decisions:
The answer to pressure is a Jesus and our pace. Yoke with Jesus and He becomes our partner and our peace.

Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

What decision do you need God’s help in making today? Did you experience a conviction, challenge or a commitment you need to make
from this devotion?

  1. I think the most important principle is focusing on the Word. If you focus on the word, your character is in check, your pride will be under control, and you will be for God’s kingdom.

  2. Colossians 3:17 is a great reminder of the weight that being a Christian brings but also the freedom that comes with Jesus. I’m thankful for the balance that God brings, allowing me to cast my cares and worries upon him. When I am weak, He is strong,

  3. GOD wants to take us to higher levels, layers, and principles. I am learning how to get into GODS perfect Order, which I believe places us within HIS timing for all things, as we continue to press forward in perfect harmony.

  4. WHEN WE ENGAGE GOD, WE GET ALIGNED WITH GOD AND TO GET ALIGNED WITH GOD WE NEED TO DEVELOP A HABIT OF PRAYER AND IF WE ARE ENGAGED WITH GOD, THEN WE KNOW GOD’S WILL IN THE MATTER.

  5. Doing everything in Jesus’ name and with thankfulness eliminates selfish decision-making and selfish actions. Jesus lived a selfless life, coming to serve and not to be served.

Every time I make a big decision it would be wise to ask the question – “How will this affect my goal of doing everything in the name of Jesus?”

  6. A thing we all Christians need to be careful of is our decision making. Oftentimes we’ll make decisions based off of emotion/feelings, or even based off of the heart. The problem with that is that the heart can be deceitful (Jeremiah 17:9) and emotions don’t always lead to great decisions. But being in God’s word, knowing the principles of God, seeking our Godly authorities and knowing that God’s sovereign can bring us to the right path that God wants us on.
