WEEK 17: Peace by the Spirit

‘But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. ‘ Galatians 5:22-23

But the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control. There is no law against such things as these. Galatians 5:22-23

These fruits are available to every spirit filled Christian. These fruits are the character of God, and the character He wants for us.

Examples of God’s Characters

  • Love

‘He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. ‘ I John 4:8

  • Joy

‘The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”’ Zephaniah 3:17

  • Peace

‘Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.’ Romans 15:13

  • Patience

‘I, the Lord, am not easily angered, and I show great love and faithfulness and forgive sin and rebellion. Yet I will not fail to punish children and grandchildren to the third and fourth generation for the sins of their parents.’ Numbers 14:18

Out of love, joy, peace, and patience which do you need the most today? He wants you to enjoy each of these fruits.

When we are lacking one of these fruits ask God to show us what sin to confess or what direction to go!

Do you have a sin you need to confess or is there a direction you need to go?

Prayer: “God would you fill me with love, joy, peace, and patience today in Jesus Name, Amen.”

The Characteristic of God that I feel that people completely misunderstand is Joy. We often mistake Joy for happiness. While both can come across as the same on the outside, happiness is a fruit of circumstance and joy is a fruit of the spirit. So that being said, where do you place you joy? If we are not careful, we can place it in things of this earth, and in that case is not joy at all…rather its happiness. Happiness without Christ can only take one so far. But we find our greatest Joy in Him. Its looking our time here on this earth as temporary as opposed to permanent. Those who don’t know the Joy of the Lord will see the Earth as permanent and because earthly things can let us down and their joy is placed on those things, it will lead to nothing but grief. But because we know that this is not our home, we have something to look forward to. Because we know that Christ is the center of our joy, even in the darkest hours of our lives, we can rest on the fact that these things here on earth rea temporary and that with Christ is where our joy is.

I need to be patient, especially with the ones closest to me.
