The Danger of Jealousy: Four Insight about Jealousy

  1. Jealousy will cause you to miss out on God’s best.
  2. Jealousy will cause us to do and say things we normally never would have said or done.
  3. Everyone struggles with jealousy, but no Christian has to continually live in jealousy.
  4. The only cure for Jealousy is Love.

 

  1. The Danger of Jealousy. (Acts 13:45, NKJV)
    1. Jealousy is birth out of our lack of trust and faith in God. (1Corinthians 2:5, NKJV)
    2. Jealousy is revealed by anger, cursing, bad behavior, and can lead to hurting the other person physically, emotionally, and or spiritually.
    3. Jealousy most often comes upon us as a result of someone else getting the attention we want and feel we deserve. (Mark 7:21-23, NCV)
    4. One of the main reasons for jealousy and speaking evil of others is pride. (Genesis 37:3-4, NKJV)
  2. The Process of Jealousy if not dealt with.
    1. Emotional hatred. (Jeremiah 17:9-10, NKJV)
      1. Our emotions will lie to us and we will self-justify or excuse why we are feeling and saying what we are doing. (John 8:32, NKJV)
    2. Speaking evil against them to others. (Ephesians 4:29-30, KJV)
      1. The real damage of slander and gossip is that it grieves the Holy Spirit and limits the power of God in our life and prayers. (Proverbs 11:13, NIV)
    3. Can lead to physical harm. (Acts 13:50, TLB; Genesis 37:19-20, TLB; Genesis 37:28, TLB)
  • The only lasting cure for Jealousy is LOVE. (1 Peter 4:7-8, NKJV; 1 Peter 4:8, MSG)
