Pain is Temporary, Eternity is Forever

by | Sermons

Are you in need of peace, strength, guidance, and a fresh hope?

We are so blessed to possess the Promises of God to see us through every day and every problem that will come our way.

During this unprecedented time, I can’t imagine anything more valuable than time spent with God. He wants us to seek Him like never before. In doing so we will grow closer to Him and more dependent upon Him to meet our every need. While He is writing our story, we can be assured it is for our good and His glory. Until it is good, God is not done.

Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

Spiritual growth is the only guarantee things are going to get better.

Psalm 121:7-8, “The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserveyou are going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore.”

God never panics, He has a plan. The things which we see are temporary, but the things not seen are eternal. We must know our sorrow and pain are not going to change God’s plan for our eternal purpose. He will never waste our temporal pain without giving it an eternal purpose.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18, “Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”

This difficult time will pass, as we have seen throughout history. I encourage you to allow God to build character during this time. To have spiritual victories in this invisible war we must watch Jesus as our example, have a secret place to meet with God daily to pray and listen, and feed our spirit by reading His Word. We will come out on the other side with a stronger godly character and assured victory here on earth or in heaven.

Mark 14:37-38, Then He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “Simon, are you sleeping? Could you not watch one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

1 Corinthians 2:9, “But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

Where is your focus? What are you trusting God for? What is God doing in your life?

In Christ,

Pastor James

Eph. 3:20
