Our calling every Sunday morning is that we need to assemble together. Assembling ourselves together with the purpose to confess hope to those in need, show and stir up love, do good works, and make sure you encourage someone every Sunday.
‘Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.’ Hebrews 10:23-25
It is vital that we exalt God’s word and lift up Jesus.
‘And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.” ‘ John 12:32
We also need to explain God’s word.
‘Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.’ Psalms 119:11
‘But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”’ Matthew 4:4
Nehemiah teaches us the importance of God’s word. Sometimes the Word will bring conviction, sometimes the Word will bring joy, but, all the time, it should bring change.
‘And Nehemiah, who was the governor, Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people, “This day is holy to the Lord your God; do not mourn nor weep.” For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the Law.’ Nehemiah 8:9
‘For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. ‘ Hebrews 4:12
‘And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.’ Romans 12:2
