Forgiveness does not always mean reconciliation.
Romans 12:18 “If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.”
Forgiving does not always mean forgetting. Regret is when God uses what you’ve done so that you will not do it again. Guilt comes as conviction of sin, but stays with you as a result of not asking for forgiveness of sin. When living in a state of guilt and pity, we miss the power of God. Forgiveness does not always mean trusting the person again. Don’t keep bringing up past hurt to hurt the one that hurt you—don’t keep bringing up past hurts to continue to hurt yourself.
John 8:32 NKJV
“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
Is there someone you need to forgive? Do you need to forgive yourself? Did you experience a conviction, challenge or a commitment you need to make from this devotion?
