Don’t Live Off of Someone Else’s Relationship with God

Your Personal Relationship With God

It’s easy to forget we can’t live off someone else’s commitment or relationship with God; not your spouse, parents, friends, or pastor.

Romans 14:12 NKJV
“So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.”

Matthew 12:36 NKJV
“But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak; they will give account of it in the day of judgment.”

I don’t really like this, but it’s true. We will have to give account not only for what we do and don’t do; but what we say. Way too many people try to live off someone else’s commitment and relationship
with God instead of their own…

If you want a better relationship with God, start today. Start small with 15 minutes every morning if you are not already doing it. Why not start out reading the Proverbs for wisdom. Then, the Book of John or James. Read good Christian books, podcasts, etc., but don’t let anything keep you from reading God’s word day to day.

As you read a verse or chapter ask three simple questions:

  1. Is there a promise to claim?
  2. Is there a commandment to obey?Is there an insight to share?
Romans 14:12
1 John 4 18-19

Don’t Be an Excuse Maker

Don’t Be an Excuse Maker

It’s easy to become an excuse maker instead of a disciple-maker. Luke 9:57-62 NKJVNow it happened as they (Jesus) journeyed on the road, that someone said to Him, “Lord, I will follow You wherever You go.” (Are you really willing to follow Jesus?) And Jesus said to...

Choices Vs. Consequences

Choices Vs. Consequences

It’s easy to forget we have the freedom to choose but we don’t have freedom from the consequences. Galatians 6:7 NKJVDo not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. On the most basic level, the concept of sowing and reaping...
