We benefit from forgiveness …
Emotionally. (Job 5:2) “Resentment kills a fool, and envy slays the simple.”
Resentment means to rehearse something over and over again in your mind.
Resentment leads to revolving hurts which then leads to negativity and a state emotional wreckage.
Relationally
When we don’t forgive someone, that person is dragged into similar relationships.
Our “baggage” always leads to more “baggage” until we put down our “baggage.” (Ephesians 4:26-27) “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. (Ephesians 4:31-32) “Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you.
Physically (Proverbs 14:30) “A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.”
According to studies, forgiveness can reduce stress levels up to 50%
Forgiveness can improve energy, mood, sleep quality, and overall physically.
Note: We all need to be going to the doctor for a check-up. But, it needs to be the “Great Physician!”
