8 Acts of a Radical Growing Church

by | Radical Leadership

We must minister in the Holy Spirit’s power. (Acts 1:4-5, NIV)

• We must rely on His power on a moment by moment bases.

• The power of God is given for witnessing, ministering, and mission.

• One of the characteristics of people who try to minister in a church without God’s Spirit is simple—tiredness and fatigue.

We must maintain a warm fellowship. (Acts 2:42-44, 47 NIV)

• Perfect example of fellowship is Love Each Other.

• A church with warmth, fellowship, and harmony—God blesses with new believers because He wants them to be in an environment where they can grow.

• Ten times in the first five chapters of Acts it say “they were unified.”

• God cannot overlook disharmony in the church—Harmony and unity must be maintained at all costs because the church is a fellowship. (Psalm 133:1-2, NKJV)

We must multiply small groups.

• Three advantages to meeting in small groups house to house:

  1. • It is unlimited geographically.
  2. • It is good stewardship.
  3. • It promotes relationships.

We must magnify our vision of God. (Acts 4:24, NIV)

• We are children of the King—we are on the winning side.

• We know how it’s going to end—Jesus says, “I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.”

• As a church, we don’t need to play it safe—Don’t be afraid to rock the boat if Jesus Christ is the captain of the boat!

• Do anything apart from sin to “Bring those far from God close to God.”

We must maximize the power of prayer. (Acts 4:31, NIV)

• Spiritual warfare requires the use of spiritual weapons.

• We must maximize the power of prayer if we’re going to be like the church of Jerusalem. (James 5:13-18, NKJV)

We must model Christ like generosity. (Acts 4:32-37, NIV)

You can’t out give God.

• Three results of generosity:

• There was unity in the church. (Vs. 32)

• It was a powerful testimony to the community. (Vs. 33)

• There were no needy people. (Vs. 44)

We must mobilize every member for ministry. (Acts 6)

• When every member is a minister (discovers their God-given gift), and serves someone else, the church moves from just a leader “adding” more people to the church “multiplying.”

We must move out with God’s mission. (Acts 8)

• Great Commission: “Go into all the world and make disciples!”

• We will be the New Testament church when we magnify the vision of God—pray like they prayed, when we are filled with the Spirit, and when we are generous with each other.

How to Be Filled With The Holy Spirit

1. We must receive Him in our lives. (Ephesians 4:5, KJV)

2. We must confess and forsake all known sin. (Acts 3:19, KJV)

3. Maintain a clear conscience towards God and all men. (Acts 24:16, KJV)

4. We must ask Him to fill us. (Luke 11:13, KJV)

5. We must believe that it is done. (Hebrews 11:6, KJV)
