Dogs keep us laughing.
“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” (Proverbs 17:22, NIV)
A day doesn’t go by that our dogs don’t have us laughing over something silly.
Laughter increases the endorphins that our brains release. These hormones reduce the emotions of depression, stress, and anxiety.
Laughter can stimulate circulation and relax muscles which help reduce tension.
It can also improve our self-esteem.
Dogs demonstrate forgiveness.
Dogs don’t hold grudges like we tend to do.
We can learn to be more like Christ when we forgive like our furry friends.
Imagine if people could forgive like our dogs. We wouldn’t carry around resentment, and the sin of unforgiveness would never interfere with our fellowship with our heavenly Father.
Unforgiveness would cease from blocking our answer to prayers.
Dogs are possessive and even somewhat protective.
You don’t have to own an aggressive dog to see their sense of protection.
One of our dogs is so possessive, if you try to give the other one too much attention he will try to get between you.
That applies to the dog or another person; if someone is pulling up in the driveway they both start barking before anyone arrives as a way to protecting and making us aware for who is coming.
Jesus wants us to be aware of who we are around and make sure He is first place in your life.
Dogs give unconditional love.
You may have discovered that other than God, your dog is the only one who gives you unconditional love.
Dogs love to cuddle, catch a ball, or go for a walk. Whatever you decide to do, they want to be a part of it.
Dogs and God crave fellowship with us, but when we get involved with our busy schedules, it leaves little time with them. Despite that, God and our dogs still love us.
Let your canine friend become your reminder to pray.
Our dogs don’t care what we do; they keep on loving us, just like God.
Just like God, our dogs offer grace upon grace.
Treat time!
What dog doesn’t love a treat?
As excitement builds and the tail wags the entire body, our fur babies wait with eager anticipation for a treat. Seeing their joy puts one more smile on our faces.
I wonder if that’s how God feels when He gives us those special blessings.
I believe God enjoys blessing us far more than we can imagine, just as we appreciate our dogs’ fondness for a treat.
I believe your best friend is waiting for that special treat right now, and he or she certainly deserves it.
Dog lovers encompass a blessed group of people.
We have received one of the greatest gifts a human can receive – a dog.
